Smartness & Shrewdness

It is funny how elders teach from birth it is wrong to be shrewd in various ways. When encountering a guy like the main character in slumdog millionaire we were constantly told NOT to be like that guy. It is wrong to be shrewd! DON'T go on the streets! are you crazy? you'll be duped by unscruplous people!

But in adult world it is shrewdness that saves us more often than not. Being LEFT brained and obseessively correct is NOT always your ticket to success and happiness. Being shrewd saves you from expending SO MUCH energy and PAIN of suffering. It is good to be SMART.

Is my job to educate other rigid left brained folks about why it is good to be SHREWD? Absolutely NOT! My job is to learn how to use this streetsmart so that it benefits ME. YES ME first.I was surprised when an intelligent and smart guy said Gandhi and Mother Theresa are shrewd but then I realized WHY it is so.

It is only way to HAVE the CAKE and EAT it TOO . What good is having a cake if you cannot eat it?

Improv class

So I wanted give my quick thinking a boost and joined a comedy Improv course. The first class was today and it was really cool seeing everyone think on thier feet, come up with something creative. It was cool to do random stuff like word association games, walking randomly and saying hi and bye to random people, emote like a duck, cat, ,owl, say funny sounding words and feel silly. There was a 3 step scenes game to be enacted between two people where 1 person says something and the 2nd person has to say yes reagardless, and the first person reacts to it and on and on. It was really fun seeing people coming up with random stories and making other go YES even when they strongly wanted to say NO.
It was the first time to perform in such a group and though acting these 3 scenes were difficult it was fun nevertheless.
